The Milk Farm Restaurant was famous as a stopping point on what is now called the Interstate 80 highway. Beginning in the 1930’s it was frequented by celebrities like Bing Crosby and Jack Dempsey. Over 155,000 cars per day pass this 30-acre site located in the Sacramento valley between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe.

The site became dormant in the 1970’s when the owners passed away and conflicts arose between the City of Dixon and Solano County as to who would control future development. A limited partnership called Milk Farm Associates was formed to resolve this conflict, which resulted in the City of Dixon being given control.

The Milk Farm is unique for a number of reasons including very large animated signs that are in the process of being declared historic documents by the County. Signs like these would not be allowed to be built today. A large interstate interchange is located at one end of the site while at the other end an exit from I-80 is provided specifically for the Milk Farm complex.
